Handgun Proficiency Mod 3

PRS/SSA Handgun Proficiency Training Sessions/Clinics Mod 3

Thurs. Oct 07,  16:00 – 19:00

Sat. Oct 16, 13:00 – 16:00

Sun. Oct 24, 13:00 – 16:00

Pre-requisites:

Attended a Mod 2 session is preferable, OR

Have all the required equipment AND be able to safely / successfully complete the handgun skills & drills covered in mod 1 and mod 2 sessions using proper PRS techniques as follows:

  1. Load
  2. Make ready
  3. Unload
  4. Bullet hole drill
  5. Reload (military)
  6. Stoppage drill

Note: these training sessions will start with a confirmation of skills test

Equipment Required for Mod 3:

Any handgun, revolver or pistol + 100 rds ammunition.  Hearing & Eye protection is mandatory.  Appropriate clothing.  No open toed footwear, sandals, or tank tops.   Hat, bug repellent, sunscreen, personal water, a belt AND holster.

Also:

For Semi-auto shooters 2 magazines minimum.

For DA revolver shooters 1 speed loader.

For SA revolver shooters, pants with pockets.

Registration:

Pre-registration on this website required a minimum of 48 hours in advance.  Space is limited to 5 participants per day.  Open to Members and Guests.

Topics Covered:

Review & practice the basic handgun manipulation skills.  Self training techniques and dummy cartridges.  Alternate firing position. Fire and Movement as a group.

Note – this is not a certification course it is a knowledge sharing event.  By purchasing a “ticket” on this website for $12 you are making a donation to the SSA for use of the handgun range.  You can attend more than once if there is still a vacancy after the 48 hour online registration deadline.

Tentative dates for the year end annual handgun qualification shoot (Canadian Forces Ann 1976 std) are November 10 & 13, 09-00 to 16:00 hours.
