Fee Changes for the Year 2000
At the June Directors'
Meeting a detailed discussion occurred regarding membership changes, club
costs and fees. When we discovered that we were running a deficit of approximately
$6000 in operating expenses as compared to membership dues, it was obvious
that our present fee structure would have to be increased. If we want to
continue to provide excellent facilities, our revenues need to increase.
However, we want to keep dues at an affordable price open to all. We also
don't want to make the fee structure any more complex than it is already.
We decided to
increase the year 2000 fees in the following way:
Junior members
(12andunder)-$15.00--increase of $5.00
Student members
(over 13 while in school)--$20.00----increase of $5.00
Senior Citizen
members (age 60 and up)--$55.00------increase of $10.00
Adult members
(less than age 60)--$70.00------increase
of $10.00
Family members
--$90.00------increase of $10.00
Of course all
of these different types include a membership in the Ontario Federation
of Anglers and Hunters. As well, the directors decided to purchase a Fiesta
B B Q to use as an Early Bird Draw Prize. We plan to make memberships available
in October this year. The earlier you payyour membership, the more chances
you get to win the B B Q.
You can attend the October meeting, purchase your membership and get
4 chances to win a new B B Q.

Sound Salmon Spectacular 1999
Workers----
Help!!!
This year's version
of the Derby promises to be the biggest and best yet! We have events scheduled
for each day including Kids' Day on Sunday, Rockin' and Rollin' with the
Bearcats on Tuesday and an Antique Car Show along with Elvis on Thursday.
New for this year will be Kids Fish Entry Draw Prizes each day along with
Ladies and the customary daily draws.
Last year, we
realized that enough workers had not been scheduled on the Beer Tent and
the Food Booth at peak times. A number of S S A workers were literally
"run off their feet". The Derby Committee spent a considerable amount of
time fine tuning the work schedules so that enough help could be provided.
At the onset, we discovered that we needed many more helpers in order to
not overwork the willing volunteers. We have at least 30 - 40% more working
shifts to fill in 1999.
For this reason,
we are asking each member to work for 3 shifts at the Spectacular. I know
that this may sound excessive, but if we all worked for 3 shifts at some
booth, I think that we would solve the problem. For those of you who worked
3 last year, sign up for as many as you wish. Please telephone Donna Maher
at 372-2503 and volunteer your time to make O S S S '99 the best ever!
Remember, this
is a great way to get to meet other members and have a great time. Derby
proceeds generate most of the revenue for our many and varied conservation
projects.
Thanks in advance
for your help! - John Ford
